If you’ve come here in search of some of the most awesome things to do in Bangkok at night, then yes my dear friend, you’ve come to the right place.

So welcome, welcome to my world of weirdness. LOL.

Because yes, it really is a beautiful place, especially since it brings me to some of the absolute COOLEST places to visit in Bangkok.

Now:

While doing so, I may (or may not) be rocking a pair of my finest granny panties, as I roll into bed at the insanely early hour of 9 pm (AT THE LATEST), but whatever.

I can still be hip. At least in my own mind anyway.

But enough about me and my inability to party like a rockstar and stay up past 10 pm on a weekday (Trust me, I try REALLY hard to keep my eyes open but my bed is just so DAMN inviting).

I mean:

You’re obviously WAY cooler than me and desperately want to get jiggy with it (See, more of my eternal coolness showing. Straight up early 2000’s slang yo!) at some of the coolest bars, clubs, and night markets that Bangkok has to offer.

So:

If your current life motto is, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” (God, I miss those days. Now if I don’t get a solid 8 hours of sleep, I walk around hating the world and basically wanting to throat punch anyone I come into contact with), then this epic post is for you.

This might also be the time where you brush up on those mad cool break dancing skills of yours, as you grab a pair of dusty glow sticks off your shelf (circa 2000), because we’re about to live it up, Girl with the Passport style, and reveal my picks for 13 of the coolest things to do in Bangkok at night. Things you can enjoy right after you have brunch in Bangkok.

Okay:

As you probably already surmised, I’m really not all that wild. That’s why everything on this list will definitely be on the tamer side of things.

But:

I pinkie promise that everything on this list will still be uber-cool!

***Not sure where to stay in Bangkok? I stayed at the Patumwan House and enjoyed it. I mean, is it the greatest hotel in Bangkok? 1.Siam Niramit Cultural Show & Dinner

Touted as one of the largest stage productions in the entire world:

This is one of those things to do in Bangkok at night that everyone will love, at least if you’re into cultural activities anyway. 

Now amazingly:

This spectacular production, which lasts about 90 minutes, will take you through multiple centuries of Thai history as over 150 different performers soar through the air and mesmerize you with their straight-up magical, dance moves.

Add in some exquisite backdrops and beautiful, traditional Thai music, and you have a truly awe-inspiring show that tells the unique story of Siam and it’s astounding cultural heritage.

No really!

We’re talking live, immersive, village celebrations people! Celebrations that beautifully intertwine traditional Thai dance with folk music and spectacular effects, to transport you to the mystical netherworld of Himmapan, a forest that sits between the edge of heaven and earth.

And while it’s not essential that you have dinner as part of the show:

My only real question to you is, “Why why wouldn’t you?”. LOL.

I mean:

Not only is the dinner here an all you can eat buffet (A concept that always leaves my stomach saying, “Ahh, challenge accepted!”), but all of the food served here is also pretty damn delicious.

Besides:

You really don’t want to be THAT guy. You know, the one with the insanely loud, growling stomach that basically ruins the show for everyone. 

And yes:

I really do love food so much that I am able to convince myself, and others, that eating from a buffet is actually for the good of humanity!

Muahaha!

Admission Fee: $41-$55, depending on the type of ticket that you buy (Options include standard seating, golden seating, and platinum seating, all of which can be purchased with or without the buffet)).

How to get there: Take the MRT blue line to Thailand Cultural Centre. From here, it’s just a 15-minute walk to the theatre.

2. Stop by the Saxophone Pub for live Jazz

One of the great things about being a lover of jazz is that you can usually find a potentially smoky, totally awesome jazz club (complete with dark, moody lighting and old man drinks in fancy glasses) in just about any city in the world. 

And luckily for you:

Bangkok is no exception to this insanely general rule!

Now sure:

Saxophone Pub doesn’t exactly have the most original name on the planet but with drinks and jazz music THIS good, who cares?

So:

Be sure to swing on by any time after 6 pm (pun intended), grab yourself a drink (Old man or otherwise. No judgment here), and settle in for hours of delightful, live, blues and jazz music.

Now generally speaking:

Each evening will include performances from three separate musicians, or bands, who will begin their sets around 7:30 pm and continue well into the wee hours of the morning. 

Therefore:

Pace yourself and arrive as early, or late, as your little heart desires.

Because yes:

Whatever works for you and your internal body clock is totally fine by me.

3. The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar

Perhaps one of the most obvious things to do in Bangkok at night is to get your drinky drank on. Which makes sense since there are plenty of places in the city where you can do so.

But:

With weather this warm, and humidity levels that subside at least a little bit in the evening, why not consider taking your cocktail loving ways outdoors?

I mean sure:

Street-level bars are cool and all, but rooftops bars are way cooler. Literally.

And while you’ll find most rooftop bar loving individuals at Bangkok’s iconic Skybar, why not dare to be different and head to The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar instead?

Because not only are the drinks here WAY cheaper and the atmosphere infinitely more relaxed, but this rooftop bar also has a wide selection of delicious, craft cocktails that are without a doubt, some of the most photogenic drinks that I’ve ever seen in my life.

And if you’re a gin lover:

Then this place is 100% for you since this bar has more than 40 different premium gins for you to choose from.

I know, dreams really do come true.

Now, this bar also sits on the 24th and 25th floors of The Muse Hotel, giving you some pretty rad views of the city below, at least if you can tear your eyes away from the exquisite, vintage, 1920-30’s Prohibition Era decor that adorns this bar’s chic interior.

So:

Whether you’re looking for a place to start, or finish, getting your tipple on, the Speakeasy Rooftop Bar is always an excellent choice, especially since they have a fantastic selection of small bites for you to choose from (Hey, you’re gonna need something to soak up all that excess, alcohol goodness.).

PS:

There’s also no dress code here. Something that is incredibly appealing to a fashion-challenged, elastic loving, traveler such as myself.

How to get there: Take the BTS to Chit Lom station and walk from there.

4. Onyx Night Club

Yo DJ, pump this party (Night at the Roxbury much?)!

Okay yeah:

As the above statement painfully demonstrates, I’m definitely not much of a clubber.

But:

If you have even a flicker of interest in clubs, then make sure that you drag your cute little self on over to Onyx Night Club in Bangkok.

Because trust me:

The nightlife scene in Bangkok is truly massive and home to some of the most impressive clubs in the entire world.

No, seriously!

Onyx is actually ranked as one of the top 100 clubs in the world (Yeah, the entire damn world) and will definitely not disappoint with a capacity of more than 2,500 people!

So:

Just imagine basically any totally over the top club that you’ve ever seen in a Hollywood film.

Now:

Sprinkle a bit more over-the-topness into that epic club and that’s pretty much what you’ll find at Onyx since this multi-floored club is always packed with an impressive of number of amazing DJ’s (There’s also a state of the art sound system and an underground club area here too, in case you thought that this club couldn’t get any cooler).

And yes:

For all those ultra-cool kids in the audience, there really are plenty of VIP booths here where you can pop those bottles and party like a rockstar all night long!

However:

Before you stop by, do be aware of the club’s dress code (Thankfully, men only!).

So:

Sorry guys but you’ll have to ditch those SEAsia flip flops and tank tops for something a bit more dapper, like a super snazzy, button-up shirt.

Admission Fee: 500 Baht (os about $17), which includes one drink.

How to Get There: Take the MRT blue line to Phra Ram 9 from where Onyx is a 20-minute walk. Or maybe just take a Grab instead since that’s a WHOLE lot of walking in heels.

5. See a Muay Thai Show at Asiatique

If you’re looking for things to do in Bangkok at night that are equal parts culturally stimulating and uber-exciting, then Muay Thai is where it’s at.

I mean:

This sport literally translates to ‘Thai boxing, ‘ in English and is, therefore, duh, a form of boxing that first originated in Thailand.

And while you might be thinking that boxing is just not your thing:

The show at Asiatique is definitely not your typical Muay Thai bout.

Instead:

The Muay Thai Live Match held here is more of a theatrical performance where skilled actors, who are well-versed in the art of Muay Thai, combine an entertaining theatrical performance with real-life, Muay Thai moves, to create a 90-minute show that will enthrall even the most angsty of teenage boys (No really! The show has a sword-fighting scene where sparks actually fly out of the weapons themselves.Pretty sweet right?). 

Now:

In case you still have no idea what I’m talking about, just imagine the most epic montage of Hollywood fight scenes ever. Only, pretend that all of those fight sequences are actually being performed just meters away from your face.

Yeah, now you have some small idea of just how cool this show really is.

Plus:

This performance also has an engaging storyline, with dynamic sets, where audience members can actually follow the development of Muay Thai from ancient Siam, all the way through to modern-day.

Sure:

The show’s plot is a bit cliched, with stereotypical characters like the bad guy, the handsome good guy, and the beautiful love interest.

But:

It’s still a super fun experience that includes an assortment of insanely impressive acrobatic sequences that help elevate this show to the next level.

And added bonus?

The show actually just recently re-launched as a double performance that combines the stage show mentioned above with an actual, live Muay Thai match; both of which are held in an ultra-modern, 600-seat theater, with plenty of AC.

Three cheers for AC!

Admission Fee: $40-50 dependent on the type of ticket that you purchase.

How to get there: Take the BTS and get off Saphan Taksin station, From here, just take the free shuttle at the end of the pier to the theater.

6. Asiatique Night Market

Nestled along Bangkok’s scenic, Chao Phraya Riverfront:

Asiatique Riverfront Night Market is a fusion of the best aspects of a traditional Thai night market with the modern convenience of every consumer whore’s favorite place, a mall.

So:

Feel free to wander through the wealth of well-paved pathways here, and enjoy a variety of different souvenir stalls and street food vendors (the best street food is found in the tented area that is adjacent to the river), all of which sell fairly typical, traditional, Thai foods and wares.

However:

In the true spirit of old meets new, you’ll also find several theme park rides (for the kids and kid-like adults among us) here, as well as some rather interesting “cultural” performances that include Bangkok Calypso Cabaret (a ladyboy cabaret show) and a classic, Thai puppet show at Joe Louis Thai Puppet Theatre.

This is also where you’ll want to be if you’re planning to take a night cruise since this is the starting off point for many of the top companies in the city.

And:

If you’re totally pre-geriatric like me and super into getting all of your ‘nighttime activities’ done early, then you’ll love the fact that this night market opens at 4 pm!

Amazing right?

Because now you really can check out a fantastic night market and STILL get into bed well before the clock strikes midnight.

How to Get There: Take the BTS dark blue line to Saphan Taksin station. From here, hop on bus number 15 and ride the bus for about 35 minutes (The exact stop is in Thai and since I don’t speak or read Thai, I recommend that you use your GPS to figure out exactly when to get off the bus).

7. Ratchada Rot Fai Train Night Market

Night markets are a must all across Thailand and SEAsia in general.

But:

Rot Fai is definitely one of the more unique and exciting of them since this colorful, outdoor market is brimming over with fantastic music, delicious food, and a multitude of vendors who sell an eclectic variety of vintage wares.

So:

If you’re in the market for that one, tiny, 1970s era, Japanese action figure that you remember loving as a kid, then there is a distinct possibility, that if you look hard enough, you just might find it here. 

Personally though:

Stuff like that really isn’t of interest to me. 

That’s why:

I basically come here to eat my face off (Hello mango sticky rice) and wander through the labyrinth of colorful shopping lanes.

However:

If you’re looking to get your shopping swerve on, then this is definitely the place to go since it is frequented by more locals and as a result, has lower prices (definitely cheaper than nearby, Chatuchak Market).

Before you go though:

Do be prepared to do a ton of haggling. You also might want to try shopping along the market’s periphery since this area is filled with more traditional, retail items like shoes, handbags, and clothes.

Hours: Open Thursday through Sunday from 6 pm until 12 am.

Admission fee: None. But you’ll definitely have to pay for all of that amazing street food that you’ll be devouring.

How to get there: Take the MRT blue line to the Thailand Cultural Centre and walk about 3 minutes to the market.

8. Try a Paint and Sip Class at PaintBar Bangkok

We all know that we become infinitely more skilled at basically everything when we have a drink in hand.

No, think about it.

Whether it’s chatting up your date, speaking a second language, or painting a landscape, we all do ALL of these things WAY better when we’re feeling just a little bit tipsy.

I mean:

I morph into Pablo Picasso himself after a bottle of wine…or two.

So:

Cue Paintbar Bangkok, a charming little Bangkok bar where you can embrace your inner Vincent Van Gogh and really get those creative juices flowing.

And lest you think that booze are the only thing on tap here:

Paintbar also has a fine selection of light tapas and snacks for you to choose from, as well as a menu full of beer, wine, soda, and various other, non-alcoholic beverages.

There are also has a number of different painting subjects that you can choose from, including a lavender field, fuji blossoms, and more.

That’s why:

No matter whatever you’re into, Paintbar’s got you covered, with the perfect, creative AF, template for you.

You saucy minx you.

Hours: Paintbar Bangkok is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 2 pm to 10:30 pm, and on Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Admission fee: All courses start at 800 Baht (about $26) and include painting supplies, a canvas, and a few hours of instruction. Also, do try and reserve your spot well in advance since this is one of the more unique, and popular, things to do in Bangkok at night.

How to get there: Take the BTS light green line to Thong Lo station and walk about 15 minutes to Paintbar.

9. A 2-Hour, Grand Pearl Dinner Cruise on the Chao Phraya River

Like with many of the great cities of the world:

The Chao Phraya River really is at the heart and soul of Bangkok.

I mean:

Not only are many of Bangkok’s top attractions sprinkled along this river’s immortal shores, but the waters here have also been used for centuries as a means of transportation for various local goods and services.

That’s why:

No trip to Bangkok would be complete without ample time spent on, near, or along the river.

And what better way to marvel at the beauty of this amazing waterway than from the decks of a delightful, river cruise ship?

Exactly! Glad we agree on the UBER-important things in life! LOL.

Now, while there are about 10,000, dinner cruises along the Chao Phraya River that you can choose from, the Grand Pearl Dinner Cruise just happens to be one of my faves.

See:

Not only does this 2-hour cruise include a Thai/International style, dinner buffet (perfect for people of differing culinary tastes), but it also includes pick up from your hotel (at least if your hotel is located in Sathorn, Silom, Siam, Pratunam, or the Sukhumvit area from Soi 1-39 and 2-24), as well a fantastic, traditional Thai dance show, complete with live, folk music.

And all for just $46.30 per ticket! Pretty awesome right?

So, hop aboard the Grand Pearl riverboat (after you check-in at the La Grande Perle Restaurant at the River City Shopping Complex of course), and prepare for an evening filled with delicious food and fantastic entertainment, all while cruising along the Chao Phraya River and marveling at the electric glow of Bangkok’s historic Grand Palace and Temple of Dawn. 

PS:

This river cruise also disembarks by 9:30 pm, giving pre-aged people, such as myself, ample time to get into bed before they make the cruise ship dinner table their impromptu bed.

Hours: Cruises are available every day and generally run from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Price: $46.30 (But you can also get a cheaper ticket that does not include dinner)

How to Get There: Take the BTS, dark green line to Saphan Taksin station. From here, board the express ferry boat, towards Nonthaburi, and get off at the Si Phraya Express Boat Pier.

10. Bounce Trampoline Park

Trampolines are fun and all, but an entire ROOM full of them?! 

Umm, hell to the yeah!

Now that’s what I fondly refer to as blissfuly, beautiful chaos. 

So:

Channel your inner Jane Fonda, prepare to GET PHYSICAL (it was a song in the 80’s in case you have no idea why that reference is funny), and prepare to bounce the night away at Bounce Inc. trampoline park, which is just waiting for you, right there in Bangkok!

Now:

In addition to the obvious, voracious amounts of bouncing that you can do here, you can also play basketball, enjoy a bit of old school dodgeball, and even do some straight-up, ninja-style, “wall walking”.

Spiderman, eat your heart out!

However, if you do decide to get your bounce on while in Bangkok, be sure to book your impromptu, acrobatics sesh well in advance since, not surprisingly, this place is popular among kids and pseudo-adults alike.

There are also several different ticket options that you can choose from, including general admission (for anyone over 110 cm in height), junior jumper admission (for anyone who is 3 years old, or younger, and under 110 cm in height), student admission (For students with a valid student ID, so that they can enjoy an always appreciated, well-deserved, monetary discount) and family admission (includes admission for two adults and two kids).

So:

Prepare to embrace your inner child as you frolic through an almost neverending field of trampolines for the evening.

Definitely wear an extra supportive bra though, especially if you’re a bit top heavy, like this chick right here.

Hours: Open every day from 10 am to 10 pm.

Admission Fee: Sessions start at $16 per person, for your first time (Also, be sure to wear socks so that you don’t have to buy a new pair when you visit).

How to get there: Take the light green, BTS line to Phrom Phong station and walk to Bounce Trampoline Park from there.

11. Relax the Night Away at an Onsen

Just because onsens are traditionally found in Japan doesn’t mean that you can’t find some great ones while in Bangkok.

Besides:

After all that intense, Bangkok sightseeing, you might need a night to just relax and unwind in this type of unique, Japanese-style spa.

Heck:

You might want to forget about sightseeing all together and just spend the entire day here, especially given the epic levels of heat and humidity that Bangkok is known for.

Hey:

No judgement here. I’m all about actually relaxing while on vacay.

You could even go totally wild with all of this pampering and throw a traditional, Thai massage into the mix.

I know, talk about heaven on Earth.

However, like with most things in Bangkok, this city definitely has more than one onsen for you to choose from.

Therefore:

You final pick might differ from mine, depending on various factors like price, ratings, and convenience.

But:

My personal fave onsen in Bangkok is definitely Yunomori Onsen.

I mean:

Not only does this upscale spa have a wealth of thermal pools, massage therapies (Try the aroma body massage! SOOO relaxing!), and body scrubs for you to choose from, but the cafe also sells an assortment of delicious cakes.

NOM NOM NOM!

Plus, the staff here are all super friendly and only too happy to help you.

The clientele here are also primarily Japanese, so you know that this onsen is without a doubt, totally legit.

Hours: Open every day from 9 am to 12 am.

Admission Fee: Prices start at $17 per day and do not include massage packages.

How to get there: Take the MRT blue line to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and walk ten minutes to the spa from there.

12. Stop by LazGam for some Laser Tag!

If you think laser tag is just for kids, think again!

Because there is no reason why grown men and women can’t swan dive, head first, into an alternate, sci-fi reality where they get to shoot virtual laser beams at one another. 

Now:

During you time at LazGam, expect incredibly high-octane games, setup inside a 500-square meter labyrinth that is adorned with a multiude of flashing lights, vibrant colors, and unique sounds, all of which are designed to simulate some weirdly wonderful, sci-fi world.

Typically:

Games here last around 15 minutes, depending on how much of a laser tag ninja you really are, and can include a maximum of 32 players.

Now:

Your mission here, should you choose to accept it, is to put on a super snazzy vest (equipped with five front, back, and shoulder sensors), grab a laser gun, and avoid getting hit while you try and shoot down everyone around you!

Trust me:

You do NOT want to get hit because if you do, your vest will turn off within five seconds and you will be out of the game.

WOMP, WOMP, WOMP.

But, if you can manage to become the player with the highest score at the end of the game, then you will be crowned the lone victor and can enjoy unlimited bragging rights for the remainder of the evening.

Now:

Like with most things on this list of things to do in Bangkok at night, it’s a pretty good idea to book in advance and avoid any potential disappointment at not being able to get in.

Also:

There are no real options for refreshments here, so you may want to bring an ice cold bottle of water with you.

I mean:

All that running around and virtual shooting could definitely leave you feeling more than a bit parched.

Hours: Open everyday from 1 pm to 10 pm, except Saturday and Sunday when Lazgam is open from 10 am to 10 pm.

Admission fee: About $16 per person for three games

How to get there: Take the light green, BTS line to Phrom Phong station and LazGam will be just a hop, skip, and jump away.

13, Sing Sing Theater (It’s more of a bar/night club than a traditional theater)

WAY more than just your average nightclub:

Sing Sing Theater is an ultra-unique, bar/night club with an ethereal, Eastern-style, design aesthetic that includes vintage, wrought iron gates, colorful paper lanterns dangling from the ceiling, and a wealth of dragon imaginary that can be found on every surafce imaginable.

There are even a slew of immaculately dressed ladies, dressed in traditional Chinese gip outfits, that you’ll see all along the dance floor, just in case the decor here wasn’t already exciting enough for you.

So:

Prepare to step inside a world of whimsical, themed concept parties (themes that include carnival and under the sea) and be amazed, or perhaps evem a little overwhelmed, by no less than two downstairs bars, a central dance floor that doubles as a stage for live performances, and a beautiful balcony that overlooks the main dance floor.

Of course:

There are also a wealth of live DJ’s who perform here, including internationally acclaimed artists like Gilles Peterson, French deep house artist Kilngande (with a weekly residency), Jul&Co, and more (Not that I know who any of these people are but they sure sound cool!).

However:

If DJs really aren’t your thing, then you be delighted to know that a slightly more chill, downtempo act typically perfroms between 8pm to 10pm every evening, an event that is super popular among the city’s after-dinner crowd, which typically includes a more mature mix of locals and tourists alike.

That’s why:

The cocktail menu here showcases a variety of creative, craft cocktails that are made from nothing but the finest of premium liquors.

So:
