Now I want to share all of my insider picks with you. This way you can save money and meet amazing people at the same time.
Just be prepared to spend at least $40.00 per night on a dorm room since hostels are VERY much NOIT cheap in Rome.
I would also not expect your bed to come with a privacy curtain since they aren’t really a thing in Rome. Yeah, only the super bougie hostels come with anything privacy-related.
Other than that, enjoy the beauty and magic of this amazing city. Because contrary to popular belief, you can find amazing budget-friendly hostels in Rome.
At least I know I’ve been impressed with the quality and cleanliness of most of the hostels I’ve stayed at in Rome. And the ones that sucked obviously did not make it on this list.

The RomeHello is probably my all-time FAVE hostel in Rome for a couple of reasons.
First of all, you can’t beat the location. You are right in central Rome, only about a 3-minute walk from the Repubblica Metro station, and within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain/Spanish Steps/Colosseum.
Additionally, modern 4 or 10-bed dorms come with solid bunk beds (no privacy curtains but no creaking) that have lockers beneath the beds, bedside lights/outlets, ensuite bathrooms, and comfy pillows.

There is even a buffet breakfast available daily that includes cheese, meats, bread, croissants, muffins, donuts, etc. It was pretty lavish (and tasty) and made me feel like I was staying at a high-end hotel.
TBH, the breakfast is a bit pricey at $16.00 per person. However, it is a good option if you like to eat a lot and don’t want to waste time looking for somewhere to eat.
It’s also super easy to meet people since there is a nice on-site bar, beer garden, and spacious common area.
The staff also do a good job of organizing activities, making it easy to meet other people after touring Catholic sites in Rome.

Honestly, I just love the stylish decor here. It makes me want to hang out on the rooftop and just enjoy sweeping views of the city during Christmas in Rome.
However, the property also has a cool garden, lounge, restaurant, and bar to enjoy. There is also a buffet breakfast available for $11.00 per person.
So, be sure to stay here if you love a good bougie hostel and adore insanely awesome, over-the-top decor. Seriously, some of the murals in the rooms are epic.

I’ll be the first one to admit that Free Hostels Roma is kind of expensive since you’ll pay at least $87.00 per night for a bed in a 10-bed dorm.
However, you can’t beat the convenient location near Manzoni metro station since you have access to unique things to do in Rome.
The beds in this boutique hostel are also more like pods. So, they feature sliding doors for privacy as well as a set of steps that will take you to the top bunk.
You’ll also enjoy plush linens, bedside lights, outlets, sliding drawers beneath the beds (to store your luggage), and ensuite bathrooms.

But, the owners/staff put a lot of energy into running fun events and creating a warm/welcoming environment.
Therefore, meeting people is easy when you take part in happy hours, quiz nights, or connect with others via their Whatsapp group.
You also get free pizza when you buy a drink and can relax in a spacious indoor lounge or an outdoor courtyard.
Afterward, enjoy cooking in one of two well-equipped kitchens. So, no more waiting to cook because the kitchen is PACKED at dinner time.
Other benefits include a/c in 4 or 6-bed dorms, free wifi, a great location near the Vittorio Emanuele Metro Station, elevator access, sockets near beds, comfy pillows/blankets, etc.

Ostello Bello Roma is an extraordinary hostel in central Rome that is only about an 8-minute walk from Santa Maria Maggiore.
It is a modern, well-appointed hostel with vibrant common spaces (think lounge, terrace, bar, and garden) where you can mingle with like-minded travelers.
Each evening there are also a variety of events on offer, like family dinners, karaoke nights, pub crawls, etc. So, you’ll never get bored, especially since live football matches are broadcast in the hostel.
Other highlights include a communal kitchen, a 24-hour front desk, free Wifi, and 4 to 8-bed dorm rooms with hardwood floors, large windows, awesome decor, and modern bunk beds.

Sadly, there are no privacy curtains for the beds. However, you have everything else you need for a comfy stay. Breakfast is also available and includes a great selection of items for just $8.00.
However, my fave part was definitely the rooftop. There are tons of tables up there, the views are great, and you can even chill on a swing or hammock.
The only thing I don’t like is that some of the bunk beds feature three beds stacked on top of each other. So, you can’t sit up in bed and can feel cramped on the bottom bunk.

The first thing you need to know about The Melting Pot Rome is that there is an age restriction on guests staying in the 4 and 8-bed dorms.
So, if you are under 18 or over 40 then you won’t be able to stay in the dorms and will have to book a private room instead.

Other than that, this is a pretty normal hostel in Rome. The common room and kitchen are both nice, although the kitchen is small and does get crowded around dinner.
The dorms are also pretty standard and offer nothing fancy. Although, each bed does come with a nice reading light.
TBH, I think the best thing about the dorms is the ensuite bathroom (super modern and spacious) and the hostel’s epic location.
After all, you are just a 15-minute walk from the Colosseum and can easily visit the Colosseum at night. Plus, the owner is very nice and goes out of his way to make guests feel like family.

Just a 10-minute from Termini Metro/Train Station, YellowSquare Roma is a great youth hostel if you’re looking to party and meet other people.
After all, DJs/local bands perform on-site nightly, allowing you to chat with other travelers as you grab a drink and listen to live music.
Other fun activities offered through the hostel include local-led shopping tours, cooking classes, and more.
However, when you need to get some work done, feel free to use modern coworking spaces outfitted with desktops, printing facilities, and anything else you need to stay productive.

Alright, let me give you the inside scoop on Budget Rooms Des Arts. Firstly, this hostel is very well located. The staff are also super helpful and available 24/7 at the front desk.
I also love that 4 and 6-bed dorm rooms do NOT include bunk beds.
So, no need to worry about climbing a ladder or being able to sit up. Instead, you’ll have plenty of room and be able to enjoy lots of clean, modern amenities.

Unfortunately, dorms are only for women. So, if you identify as male then you’ll need to book a private room. You can also use lockers for free but will need to supply your own lock.
Otherwise, you can rent one for $5.00+. You can also rent a towel for $4.00+.
