When most people think of vacationing in sunny California, they think of Los Angeles and San Francisco. And while both cities are beautiful, honeymooners will love the chic city of Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara is a coastal city that is less than two hours north of Los Angeles. That’s why this city offers the best of California without the crowds. You can experience the cool, relaxed pace of a beach town with the stunning Santa Ynez Valley on one side and the ocean on the other.

This city is also the PERFECT place for romantic walks along the Santa Barbara Pier as well as a dreamy beach picnic for two. Additionally, there are plenty of boutique hotels and inns to make your honeymoon truly memorable.

If you can, book a luxurious room at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort with its beautiful ocean views and amazing amenities. Because even though this hotel is part of the Hilton chain, it still has a boutique-like feel with its exquisite rooms.

The service is also great, and the concierge will be happy to book various water activities (like kayaking) and day cruises for you.

And if you and your partner are foodies, you won’t be disappointed since there are soo many restaurants and cafes along State Street, Santa Barbara’s palm tree-lined main shopping street.

Enjoy some fresh seafood at Moby Dick Restaurant right on the pier or satisfy your sweet tooth at McConnell’s ice cream shop – which serves some of the best ice cream in all of California.

Because If you are looking for a calm but romantic place to unwind after your wedding, then Santa Barbara is one of the best places to honeymoon in the US for you!

Or, if you’re looking for something more modern in Waikiki, then the Surfjack Hotel is a hip and trendy place to stay that is perfect for getting to know other travelers.

And for an incredible resort that is hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, head up to the North Shore to the recently renovated Turtle Bay Resort which was featured in the rom-com “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”

Best Places to Honeymoon in the US – The Northeast

22. Boston, Massachusetts

Downtown Boston

Boston is a fantastic place to honeymoon in the US. Home of Harvard College, it’s a city that provides some couples with a much-needed be a walk down memory lane.

Definitely less crowded than its southern neighbor New York City, Boston is home to Boston Common. It sits at the center of the city, has been around since 1634, and is the biggest and most popular park in the metropolis.

Afterward, pick up the Freedom Trail from Boston Common, which covers 2.5 miles and includes 16 historically significant sites that are scattered throughout downtown Boston. Fee free to take a tour or explore the route independently since a history lesson is provided at each stop along the way.

Next, stop by Faneuil Hall marketplace, which was first built in 1742 by Peter Faneuil. It is a top tourist attraction and popular food stall in Boston that consists of four structures, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, North Market, and South Market.

Also, be sure to take a look at the replica of Cheers as you explore the area. It’s a legendary bar that was made famous by the sitcom of the same name during the 1980s.

Continue your visit to Boston with a tour of the home of the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Trust me, any baseball enthusiast will love this experience and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at how the stadium operates.

Finally, after a long day of sightseeing, enjoy a meal at the original Cheers Bar. Because you’re a big fan of the sitcom ‘Cheers’ then you’ll love visiting this amazing place.

And no, it’s not the replica bar in Faneuil Hall but the original facade of the bar that was used for the sitcom. They not only make great bar food but actually have the original Cheers Bar that was used in the TV show upstairs.

So, be sure to check it out and have your photo taken with a cardboard cut out of Sam, Chief, Cliff, and Norm.

Also, be sure to stay at the Eliot Hotel on Commonwealth Ave. It’s a small, elegantly furnished, boutique hotel that is within walking distance of Boston Common, Fenway Park, and downtown Boston.

Niagara Falls is probably the most renowned waterfall in the entire world, easily making it one of the best places to honeymoons in the US.

Tucked away on the Niagara River, which straddles the border between the USA and Canada. the falls consist of two main parts: Horseshoe Falls, which is 790 meters long and separated by Goat Island from the smaller, American-side of the waterfall, and Bridal Veil Falls, which is 320 meters long.

You can also enjoy stunning views of the falls from both the USA and Canada by crossing the Rainbow bridge. In general though,l the American side of the falls is a natural park while the Canadian side consists of many hotels and Casinos.

However, you can marvel at the falls not just from the banks of the river but also from behind the waterfall itself during the magnificent, Journey Behind the Falls tour or even from beneath the falls while riding aboard the Maid of the Mist.

With the later of these two options, be sure to pack plenty of waterproof clothing since the spray from the falls can get you quite wet.

If you want, you can also visit the falls when they’re partially frozen throughout the winter or in the evening when there is a fantastic light show.

And for hotels with the best views of the waterfall, you’ll need to stay on the Canadian side, where hotels can cost anywhere between $120 and $180 per night.

Now, for the best stay possible, try luxurious 4-star hotels like Sheraton Fallsview Hotel, Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls, and Hilton Niagara Falls. They are all amazing establishments where you can enjoy sweeping views amidst the most luxurious of accommodations.

And for a fantastic meal, visit either the Hilton Niagara Falls on the Canadian side or Carpaccio Restaurant & Wine Bar for a delicious Italian feast as you make the most out of your trip to one of the best honeymoon destinations in the USA.

I love all these options! I honestly probably wouldn't have thought of honeymooning in Florida, but Anna Maria Island looks gorgeous!
